In Memory of Kathryn Druliner

Cooper Foundation board and staff have learned that former board of trustees member Kathryn "Tish" Druliner died June 9. Tish was the first woman elected to the Cooper Board and she served as a trustee for 30 years, from 1978-2008. She led the Hovland-Swanson company and was on the boards of First National Bank, United Way, Bryan Memorial Hospital and many other organizations. Her knowledge of Lincoln and her active involvement in both the business and nonprofit communities provided an important perspective and many valuable insights over the years.

Tish was the first chairperson of the Cooper Foundation board's Research Committee, and as current chair Jack Campbell noted upon her retirement in 2008, her guidance "helped to fundamentally change the way the board makes grant decisions... and paved the way for the committee structure that perfects the manner in which we operate."

Tish was a wonderful friend and colleague. She was bright, open-minded, and possessed a fantastic sense of humor. Cooper Foundation staff and trustees were fortunate to have learned a great deal from her during her tenure with the foundation. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Helen Swanson; her aunt, Ruth Hovland; her brother, James Swanson; and her niece, Jamie Swanson Ruud. She is survived by her husband, Jerome Druliner of Lincoln; and her three children and their spouses: Lisa (Chip) DeBuse of Lincoln, Jim (Amy) Druliner of Omaha, and Abbie (Bill) Burton of Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Calif.; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family memorial service will be held. A celebration of life will be from 12 to 2 p.m. on July 6 at the Country Club of Lincoln. Memorials may be sent to the Lincoln Community Foundation at 215 Centennial Mall South, Suite 100, Lincoln, NE 68508 or the University of Nebraska Foundation at 1010 Lincoln Mall, Suite 300, Lincoln, NE 68508.
